Open Source Movie “Sintel” Released

Hooray! The Blender Foundation released their third movie made with the open source 3D modeling software Blender. Sintel, in my opinion, is the best of their movies yet, with a better plot than Elephant’s Dream and a more serious, kick-butt feel than Big Buck Bunny. And it’s about dragons! : D

Improved Look Coming in the Next Version of Ubuntu
When the current version of Ubuntu was released back in April, it sported a shiny new theme that differed radically from the familiar brown that defined Ubuntu since its creation six years. This new theme was a part of their new branding, which focuses on light and warmth rather than earth and coffee. The next version of Ubuntu, which will be releasing in October, will come with a greatly improved version of the theme.

I was one of those guys that got really excited about Wave. I watched the entire 80-minute keynote twice, and skipped through it many more times after that. As my roommates and I huddled around my laptop and watched Lars Rasmussen and Stephanie Hannon plan out their shopping trip in Wave, we excitedly talked about our hopes that Wave would significantly change the way we communicated online forever. “Email will never be the same!” we would cry. “Finally, instant messaging works like an actual conversation!” And best of all, it was open source! To us, Google Wave was an internet communication Messiah that we didn’t know we needed until we saw it.

Time for a Change
New website look! I wasn’t unhappy with the previous look, but I felt that it was time for some redecorating. With this redesign, I’ve decided to stick with the KISS philosophy and keep things as simple and straightforward as possible.

How Deep Is This Hole?
I made another app for Android based on the How Deep Is This Hole app featured in Julian Smith’s “One Bad App” video. Drop your phone, and this app will audibly tell you how far it fell.
